We had a client that came to us, in Feburary 2014, wanting a Joomla 2.5 site. We prefer to build all our new sites in the most current version of Joomla. At this time, Joomla 3.2 is the latest version. Here is what we found...

- J3 is updated with the latest security enhancements: Strong passwords enhance the encryption of password hashing and storage through the use of BCrypt and 2-factor authentication with Yubikey or Google Authenticator
- J3 is advancing it's features while J2 is only patching bugs and security issues.
- Responsive design is built in to the core using Bootstrap and LESS.
- Better content related features (tags & content history)

- J3 is downloaded 2.4 times more than j2.5
